Agreement
Welcome to My County, a community social platform for Kenyan county
residents ("the App", "the Service"). By downloading, accessing, or using My County,
you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully.
If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
- You must be at least 13 years of age to use My County.
- By using the Service you confirm you are 13 or older.
- Users under 18 are encouraged to use the app with parental guidance.
- You must have a valid Google account to sign in.
2. Your Account
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account.
- You must provide accurate information when setting up your profile.
- You may not impersonate another person or create a misleading account.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree to use My County only for lawful, constructive community purposes. You may:
- Share community news, alerts, announcements, and updates
- Post marketplace listings and business information
- Create events and fundraisers
- Communicate respectfully with other community members
You may NOT:
- Post or share any content that is illegal under Kenyan law or international law
- Harass, bully, threaten, or intimidate other users
- Post false or misleading information ("fake news")
- Impersonate any person, organisation, or government body
- Post spam, unsolicited advertising, or scam content
- Share explicit sexual content of any kind
- Post any content that sexually exploits or endangers minors (CSAE/CSAM) — this will result in immediate account termination and reporting to authorities
- Promote violence, hate speech, or discrimination based on ethnicity, religion, gender, or other protected characteristics
- Attempt to hack, disrupt, or damage the Service or its users
- Scrape or collect user data without permission
⚠️ Posting child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or content that exploits minors is a serious criminal offence. We will immediately remove such content, terminate the account, and report to the relevant authorities including the Kenya National Police Service and NCMEC (National Centre for Missing & Exploited Children).
4. Content Ownership & Licence
- You retain ownership of the content you create and post on My County.
- By posting content, you grant My County a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, distribute, and use your content within the Service.
- This licence ends when you delete your content or account.
- You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to post any content, including photos.
5. Content Moderation & Reporting
My County provides in-app tools to report content or users that violate these Terms. We
review all reports and take appropriate action, which may include:
- Removing the reported content
- Temporarily or permanently suspending the offending account
- Reporting illegal content to law enforcement
Reports about child safety concerns are treated as PRIORITY and reviewed immediately.
6. Marketplace & Transactions
- My County provides a platform for users to list items and services. We are not a party to any transaction.
- We do not process payments. All transactions are between buyers and sellers directly.
- We are not responsible for the quality, safety, or legality of listed items.
- Use caution when meeting strangers for marketplace transactions. Always meet in public places.
- Report suspicious listings using the in-app report function.
7. Intellectual Property
- The My County app, logo, design, and codebase are owned by the developer and protected by copyright.
- You may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative works from the app itself.
- The name "My County", its branding, and associated assets may not be used without permission.
8. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
- My County is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
- We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of user-generated content.
- We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the Service.
- Community news and reports are user-generated — always verify critical information from official sources.
9. Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you:
- Violate these Terms of Service
- Post content that is illegal, harmful, or violates our community standards
- Engage in repeated harassment of other users
- Attempt to circumvent our safety systems
You may delete your account at any time from the app's settings.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kenya.
Any disputes shall be resolved under Kenyan jurisdiction.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of significant
changes through the app. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes
your acceptance of the updated Terms.
